2008 Exhibition Season January 11 - February 15 "A Woman's View II" A series of exhibitions featuring the work of six woman artist's who bring a unique view of content, style and process. This show was designed to elevate women and their art showing the strong message and craft of their work. As past history has portrayed women in the art world as inferior to men...this can no longer be denied. Today women are at the top of the creative spectrum speaking loudly that they are equal in an arena that history has denied. This show portrays various ways in which women communicate visually from whimsical interpretations to traditional craft.
February 29 - March 28 "The Art of Food" Food has always been a necessity of life and today is more than a taste experience. The Art of Food explores the ways in which food is a complete sensory experience along with creative interpretations from artists who use food as the inspiration for the art. Today the Food industry is intergraded in all aspects of pleasing the senses. This special Exhibition will compose of a variety of events. Chefs, artists, actors and the public will come together to show the dynamic way Food is an art form.April 18 - May 23, 2008 "All Mixed Up" Something for everyone, antique quilts from private collections, computer sculpture lights, paintings, photography and a couple of more surprises. We try to keep you guessing and hope you appreciate the wide variety of exhibitions that fill the five galleries.
June 6 - July 11 "go figure" The human body is one of the most challenging and rewarding subjects to draw. The most enduring theme in the visual arts world, the figure can be the most intimidating and frustrating to create. It is the artist who focuses on the relationship each part has with the entire body; the one who does not worry about getting it "right" who has mastered this form. All five galleries, including the outdoor sculpture space, will be dedicated to the figure and to the artists who have mastered the form.Featuring works by Gagik Aroutiunian, Matthew Dayler, Tim Freeman, Margo Gotoff, Kate Halterhoff, Barry J. Houland, Anissa Lewis, Patrick Linker, Yuki Muroe, Ying Fang Shen, Steve Snell, and Jeffrey Van Sluys. September 5 - October 3 "The Bold, Beautiful and Bizarre" Not everyone agrees with the same adjectives to describe a particular work of art. But the three selected for this series of exhibitions could be attached to any of the artists work. It is the multi-facet interpretations that have brought these artist's together, each having imagery that invites you to explore the personalities or qualities that define them.You will envelop striking differences and similarities enhancing the aesthetic experience.
October 13-17 "Art Auction" Over 100 works of art have been donated to the Carnegie to be auctioned off. Proceeds will benefit the ongoing mission of showcasing the best of local and regional talent. Add a new work of art to your collection and support the Carnegie.October 24 - November 26 "Art of the Word" This will be a new kind of exhibition that will celebrate the collaboration of the literary and visual worlds. Artists, writers and performers will come together in this unique display of the Word as art. All six galleries and the Theater will be dedicated to this exhibition providing opportunities to educated and celebrate the vast array of words and the intrinsic meaning they have on us.December 6, 7 & 8 "The Holiday Art Show & Sale" This is a 3-day event that showcases local art organizations and there members. The Clay Alliance is back along with the Sparkle Plenty Jewelry group, more to be announced. This is a great way to find affordable art for the Holidays as well as that unique gift for that hard to find person who has everything. |
