Camp Carnegie 2010 - A Villain’s Tale
Art & Drama Summer Workshops for Kids ages 7 - 12

There are always two sides to a story. Explore famous tales through the eyes of the villain and help retell the story from a new perspective.

Camp Carnegie Workshops include live performance, hands-on art making, dramatic exercises, writing, brainstorming, teambuilding, problem solving, and a great deal of fun. Every student will be given the opportunity to shine.

Once Upon A Villain
Workshop 1 and 2 will focus on retelling the legends of fairytale villains and shedding some new light on their stories, complete with a narrator, colorful new characters, and a live audience.

Workshop 1: (Mondays and Wednesdays in June)
June 7, 9, 14, 16, 21, and 23.
Performance date June 23 in the Carnegie’s Otto M. Budig Theatre.
Times: 1:00pm to 5:00pm (snack will be provided)

Workshop 2: (Tuesdays and Thursdays in June)
June 8, 10, 15, 17, 22, and 24.
Performance date June 24 in the Carnegie’s Otto M. Budig Theatre.
Times: 1:00pm to 5:00pm (snack will be provided)

The Bad Guy Talk Show
Workshop 3 and 4 will explore the villain’s story through a talk show format, complete with a talk show host and a live audience.
Workshop 3: (Mondays and Wednesdays in July)
July 12, 14, 19, 21, 26 and 28.
Performance date July 28 in the Carnegie’s Otto M. Budig Theatre.
Times: 1:00pm to 5:00pm (snack will be provided)

Workshop 4: (Tuesdays and Thursdays in July)
July 13, 15, 20, 22, 27 and 29.
Performance date July 29 in the Carnegie’s Otto M. Budig Theatre.
Times: 1:00pm to 5:00pm (snack will be provided)

The Villain Trials
Workshop 5 will focus on giving well-known villains a chance to stand on trial and tell their side of the story, complete with a judge, a jury, lawyers, and a live audience.

Workshop 5: (Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays in August)
August 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, and 11.
Performance date August 11 in the Carnegie’s Otto M. Budig Theatre.
Times: 1:00pm to 5:00pm (snack will be provided)

  • PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED!
  • Dress to get messy!
  • Participants may register for 1 workshop per month.
  • All students must have a signed release form to participate.
  • Due to limited class sizes, a $10 registration fee per workshop will be collected from each participant as a deposit. The deposit will be returned at the end of the workshop, based on daily attendance.
