The City of Covington
Covington, the largest city in Northern Kentucky, is known for the re-development of its riverfront and skyline, as well as its
strong economy. Covington has the largest number of National Register historic districts (16) for a city its size, in the State of Kentucky. Only Louisville
has a greater number. Covington is well known for many of our historic neighborhoods, such as Licking-Riverside, MainStrasse and Wallace Woods; and the
Downtown Commercial area has a large concentration of historic buildings. Many incentives are available for those wishing to rehabilitate older buildings and
there are many successful preservation projects on-going in Covington. This vital urban community, just across the Ohio river from downtown Cincinnati, is
within 600 miles of 60% of the United States population, 58% of the country's manufacturing firms, and 59% of the nation's purchasing power.
Covington Arts District
The Covington Arts District was recently established as a part of the Economic Development Department in the City of Covington to enhance the
City’s economic development through the arts. The Arts District vision is to grow Covington as an arts destination widely recognized for its thriving arts
community, cultural institutions, and historic preservation, because a thriving arts community is an excellent indicator of a healthy, vibrant community.
The arts contribute to the creation of more livable cities. The arts animate and beautify our cities. As an arts destination, cultural tourists
will be attracted to spend more time in our city.
