Driving Directions to the Carnegie

Located in the heart of Covington, KY and just seven blocks from the Ohio River, The Carnegie is easy to reach from all directions. We are across the street from the Covington Fire Department, and situated between Robbins and Lynn Street, which lay between 10th and 11th Streets.

Special Notice: Roebling Suspension Bridge Closure

From April 7, 2010 through November 15, 2010, the Roebling Suspension Bridge will be closed for cleaning and repairs. If traveling to The Carnegie during this period from east of Cincinnati, U.S. 50 / River Road / Columbia Parkway, or downtown Cincinnati, click here for alternate directions.

From Downtown Cincinnati

Take Race Street south until it dead-ends into Theodore M. Berry Way. Turn left onto Theadore M. Berry Way, and follow it as it bears right and onto the Roebling Suspension Bridge. Proceed straight along the road after the bridge, which becomes Scott Boulevard. The Carnegie is located six blocks south on the left side of the road.

From the East of Cincinnati - U.S. 50 / Columbia Parkway

Take U.S. 50 / Columbia Parkway past the Kemper Lane intersection and take the exit marked I-71, I-75. Take the 3rd Street / Riverfront exit, and proceed straight until reaching Race Street. Take Race Street south until it dead-ends into Theodore M. Berry Way. Turn left onto Theadore M. Berry Way, and follow it as it bears right and onto the Roebling Suspension Bridge. Proceed straight along the road after the bridge, which becomes Scott Boulevard. The Carnegie is located six blocks south on the left side of the road.

From the West of Cincinnati - U.S. 50 / River Road

Take U.S. 50 / River Road east into Cincinnati. It becomes the 6th Street Expressway. Merge onto West 5th Street. Proceed through downtown Cincinnati and turn right on Race Street. Take Race Street south until it dead-ends into Theodore M. Berry Way. Turn left onto Theadore M. Berry Way, and follow it as it bears right and onto the Roebling Suspension Bridge. Proceed straight along the road after the bridge, which becomes Scott Boulevard. The Carnegie is located six blocks south on the left side of the road.

From the West of Cincinnati - Harrison / Western Hills Viaduct

Cross the Western Hills Viaduct and take the I-75 South exit (exit 2B). Take I-75 south through Cincinnati and across the Brent Spence bridge. Take the 5th Street exit (exit 192) towards Covington / Newport. Bear left towards Covington; the exit becomes 5th Street. Proceed east on 5th Street six blocks, and turn right on Scott Boulevard. The Carnegie is located six blocks south on the left side of the road.

From the West of Cincinnati - I-74

Take I-74 east toward Cincinnati. Take the I-75 South exit, and proceed south on I-75 through Cincinnati and across the Brent Spence bridge. Take the 5th Street exit (exit 192) towards Covington / Newport. Bear left towards Covington; the exit becomes 5th Street. Proceed east on 5th Street six blocks, and turn right on Scott Boulevard. The Carnegie is located six blocks south on the left side of the road.

From the North - I-71 or I-75

Take I-71 or I-75 south through Cincinnati and across the Brent Spence bridge. Take the 5th Street exit (exit 192) towards Covington / Newport. Bear left towards Covington; the exit becomes 5th Street. Proceed east on 5th Street six blocks, and turn right on Scott Boulevard. The Carnegie is located six blocks south on the left side of the road.

From the South - I-71 or I-75

Take I-71/75 north to the 5th Street exit (exit 192) towards Covington / Newport. Proceed east on 5th Street six blocks, and turn right on Scott Boulevard. The Carnegie is located six blocks south on the left side of the road.

From the South or East of Northern Kentucky - I-471

Take I-471 north to the Newport S.R. 8 exit (exit 5). Turn left off of the exit onto S.R. 8 / Dave Cowens Drive. Proceed two blocks and bear left onto Washington Avenue at Newport on the Levee. Proceed four blocks and turn right onto East 4th Street. Take fourth street through Newport and across the Licking River Bridge into Covington. Proceed two more blocks, and turn left onto Scott Boulevard. The Carnegie is located six blocks south on the left side of the road.



Parking

The Carnegie offers many safe convenient solutions for parking in close proximity to our building. In addition to un-metered street parking on all four sides of our building, the following surface lots are available:
  1. The Carnegie Visual and Performing Arts Center Lot - Located directly behind The Carnegie on the corner of Robbins and Greenup. Always open to patrons.
  2. AME Church Lot - Located adjacent to The Carnegie on the corner of Lynn and Greenup. Always open to patrons, excepting Wednesday nights and Sunday mornings.
  3. Kentucky Savings and Loan Lot - Located next to The Carnegie on the corner of Lynn and Scott. Open to patrons Monday though Saturday after 6:00pm.
  4. Covington Latin School Lot - Located two blocks from The Carnegie along 11th between Scott and Madison. Open to patrons weekday and Saturday evenings after 7:00pm.
  5. Fabulous Furs Lot - Located two-and-a-half blocks from The Carnegie on 11th near Madison, as well as along Robbins. Call the Box Office at 859.957.1940 for availability.
  6. Allison Rose Funeral Home - Located two blocks from The Carnegie on the corner of Robbins and Madison. Call the Box Office at 859.957.1940 for availability.

Valet Parking:
Through Star Parking Services, The Carnegie is also able to offer valet parking for guests and patrons attending your event. Valets are typically stationed in front of The Carnegie along Scott Blvd and can offer prepaid or fee-driven parking service. More pricing information, please reference the Pricing Guide further along in this guide.

Patrons are strongly encouraged NOT to park in the lot directly across Scott Boulevard from the building. Shared by Walgreens and Senior Services of Northern Kentucky, this lot is not available to Carnegie patrons.

Valet Parking:
Valet parking may be available for some events at The Carnegie. To ascertain availability and further information, contact the Box Office at 859.957.1940.

Accessibility

The Carnegie Visual and Performing Arts Center is a fully handicap accessible venue*, including handicap parking spots adjacent to the our building, elevators to each level of the building, and a wheelchair ramp to the Eva G. Farris Education Center.

*The mezzanine level of the Otto M. Budig Theatre is not accessible via ramp or elevator.

Closed Captioned American Sign Language

For select performances, The Carnegie is proud to offer fully accessible performances for the deaf and hard of hearing, featuring closed captioning and American Sign Language interpreters. For specific dates and availability, please contact The Carnegie Box Office at 859.957.1940.

Interpretation is made possible by a collaboration between The Carnegie and the Sign Language Interpreting and Deaf Studies program at the University of Cincinnati. Captioning has been offered for major theatrical performances at The Carnegie since 2006 thanks to the support of volunteers.



Concessions

Most theatrical performances, gallery openings, and special events at The Carnegie feature our Bar and Concessions in the Ohio National Financial Services Gallery. Though offerings may vary depending on the event, we typically offer a full selection wines, beers, liquor and mixed drinks, soda, snacks, and candy.

For theatrical performances, the Bar and Concessions are typically available 45 minutes before the performance begins, as well as during intermission. For more information about whether an event will include Bar and Concessions offerings, contact a Carnegie staff member at 859.491.2030.
